Seedling Distribution

We formalized our Seedling Distribution Program in 2021 which began in response to increased demand in the early months of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020. We were able to distribute over 250,000 gleaned seedlings to numerous community gardens and youth garden programs!

We see distributing seedlings as a logical extension of our food gleaning work, as well as a step towards greater food justice in our communities. Expanding this program means that we have partnered with seven farms who are growing out specific crops for us, in addition to gleaning seedlings from the rest of our partner farms, which will be donated to 19 sites in five counties in the Hudson Valley (Columbia, Dutches, Greene, Ulster and Albany).
